Life in a thatched roof house.

Due to the lack of raw materials, lack of crafts people,
and most of all, the lack of people living here, right now,
kayabuki houses are rarely standing even in Noto. Unfortunately,
it is a valuable cultural entity that
continues to decrease throughout Japan.

Our home has been mended and repaired little by little
throughout the years while being lived with care and
love Though it is unclear, it is believed that Jirozami’s
kayabuki house was built in the Edo period. To answer your curiosity,
the name Jirozami is named after Jirozaemon,
the landlord of the Edo period.

Because it is an older build house,
there is no so-called convenience. Instead,
this is a place where you can live the life of a Noto farmer
while listening to the children’s lively voices.

Experience the seasonal life of Noto.

Nanao yata-cho’s satoyama (mountain village) and
satoumi (ocean village) are part of UNESCO’s globally
important agricultural heritage systems (GIAHS).
We farmers take the blessings of the fruitful farmlands and
use the local ingredients offered by
the land to make pickled plums and miso, etc.

there are different crafts and handworks that
you can experience and immerse in together.
